United Airlines Requires All Passengers Wear Face Masks

Beginning May 4, United becomes the latest carrier to mandate face masks for all passengers

April 30, 2020

United Airlines has announced that starting May 4, all passengers will be required to wear face masks. Only last week the carrier became the first US carrier to require all its flight attendants to wear face masks when on duty.

United said face masks would be provided free of charge to all customers, as part of a strategy designed to keep customers and employees from spreading the COVID-19 virus. Last month the carrier announced social distancing measures on its flights, including restricting advanced seat selection for adjacent seats in all cabins, and boarding fewer customers at a time to allow for more distance during the boarding process.
