Air Canada Rouge Restarts
The low-cost carrier now flies between Toronto and Las Vegas, Orlando and Regina, with more to be added later
Air Canada’s low-cost subsidiary Rouge has resumed operations with flights between Toronto and Las Vegas, Orlando and Regina, Saskatchewan. The carrier says other destinations are set to be introduced in September, including Cancun and Tampa.
In February, the Canadian flag carrier put all Rouge flights on hiatus indefinitely. The move came in response to the Canadian government’s border restriction. However this month, the government has eased those travel measures to allow entry to fully vaccinated international travelers.
With the restart of services, Rouge also unveiled a new cabin interior that will be entering service later this fall on nine of the carrier’s Airbus A321 aircraft. The interiors feature a new contemporary design, configured with leather seats offering 30-inch pitch in the economy cabin and upgraded personal power options.
Other amenities on all Rouge flights include high-speed WiFi available for purchase and a choice of Premium Rouge and economy services. Premium Rouge customers receive a complimentary bar and beverage service, and a complimentary meal on flights over two hours, or a snack on flights of shorter duration.
“Air Canada Rouge remains integral to Air Canada’s overall strategy,” said Jon Turner, Vice President Inflight Services and President, Rouge Operations, at Air Canada. “As we emerge from the pandemic, we anticipate increased demand for vacation travel and from customers flying to enjoy overdue visits with family and friends.”
All Rouge flights use the Air Canada CleanCare+ suite of biosafety measures. Customers can earn and redeem points through Air Canada’s Aeroplan loyalty program, and eligible customers have access to priority check-in, Maple Leaf Lounges, priority boarding and other benefits.
In addition to the return of Rouge, Air Canada has also resumed its service out of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. The five-times daily service connects the convenient Toronto Island facility with the Air Canada hub at Montreal.
