After nearly a century as a cultural and historic touchstone in one of New York City’s most prized neighborhoods, The Surrey is embarking on a truly invigorating new chapter when it opens this month. Here are five reasons to book a stay at The Surrey, A Corinthia Hotel during your next business trip to NYC.

Glamorous History

The Surrey marks Corinthia Hotels’ very first property in North America, boasting 70 guest rooms and 30 suites. The property, which dates back to 1926, has hosted the likes of Bette Davis, John F. Kennedy, Jr., and countless other big names throughout the years. In 2020, it was acquired by the Reuben Brothers and has been delightfully made anew. Each Corinthia hotel is renowned for its personalized service, luxurious design, and stellar location, with properties in global destinations such as London, Malta, Lisbon, and Budapest. The New York property is no exception.

Upper East Side Charm

A posh lifestyle, quiet residential nooks, and a mix of neo-federal and neo-gothic architecture abound in the Upper East Side. Central Park is just one block west of The Surrey, while Madison Avenue shopping is steps away. Some of New York City’s landmark entertainment options—such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Carnegie Hall—are within a quick walk or five-minute cab ride.

Artistic Flair at Every Turn

Beyond its stately exterior, the refined aura continues inside. Paris-based VISTO Gallery has a carefully curated art gallery on-property, showcasing pieces from local and international artists alike. Guest rooms are designed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, with four suites drawing inspiration from bridges in Central Park. If the Martin Brudnizki Design Studio atmosphere feels familiar, the company has worked with everyone from the Royal Academy of The Arts to famed chefs like Daniel Boulud and Thomas Keller.

Casa Tua

With The Surrey comes the first New York outpost of a legendary Miami culinary brand. Casa Tua has a restaurant, bar, and private members’ club within The Surrey’s friendly confines. Count on superb Italian and Mediterranean fare at its restaurant and, at its bar, savor cocktail creations like a hibiscus-infused gin and tonic or ginger-meets-passion fruit martini.

A Spa Escape

The Surrey Spa is home base for guests in need of relaxation. In partnership with French luxury cosmetic icon Sisley Paris, the spa space includes a fitness center, two treatment rooms, a salt relaxation room, sauna, steam room, and sensorial shower.
