This week, Delta Air Lines and LATAM Airlines expanded their commercial partnership and introduced nonstop flights between Orlando and Bogota. LATAM Airlines Colombia will operate these flights.
On the morning of Sunday, July 9, the first flight of the new service departed from Bogota El Dorado International Airport (BOG) after a celebratory event attended by officials from Delta and LATAM, local authorities, and other special guests.
The new, four-hour service is scheduled to depart Bogota at 10:15 AM local time each day and touch down at Orlando International Airport (MCO) at 3:25 PM. The return journeys are then set to take off from Orlando at 4:57 PM each day, returning to Bogota at 8:10 PM.
LATAM Airlines Colombia is using an Airbus A320 aircraft to operate the new route, which has a total capacity of 174 passengers across Premium Economy and Economy cabins.
“The United States is one of the most relevant international destinations for Colombian passengers, and as such, this new service aligns with the strategy of delivering more direct connectivity for our customers, with security and an award-winning service in the region,” said Camilo Prieto, Commerical Manager at LATAM Airlines Colombia.
Gianmarco Mazzetti, Sales Manager for Colombia at Delta Air Lines, said: “This new service operated by LATAM will allow us to expand our international operation and offer the best connection between North and South America to passengers on business or leisure trips.”
The new Orlando-Bogota route will help expand Delta and LATAM’s joint venture, formally signed into agreement in October 2022. Since then, Delta and LATAM have increased operational capacity between the U.S. and South America by around 75%, with increased flight frequencies between New York and Los Angeles to major Latin American destinations.
In addition to Orlando, LATAM also connects Bogota with New York (JFK) with daily flights, while Delta currently operates two flights per day between Atlanta (ATL) and the Colombian capital.
The joint venture plans to expand its services by launching a new flight route from Sao Paulo (GRU) to Los Angeles (LAX) on August 1. Additionally, they will begin a Miami (MIA) to Medellin (MDE) service on October 29, and New York (JFK) to Rio de Janeiro (GIG) flights will start on December 16. Furthermore, they will resume an Atlanta to Cartagena (CTG) service on December 22.
Passengers of both airlines can enjoy greater access to international and domestic networks and a range of benefits through their joint venture agreement. Members of Delta SkyMiles and LATAM Pass can earn and use points on either frequent flyer program, which includes perks such as free seat selection, priority boarding, VIP lounge access, additional baggage allowance, priority security clearance, and more.
