World of Hyatt Members Gain Elite Status with Half the Stays and Points

Loyalty program members can achieve award levels with fewer stays or fewer points

December 2, 2020

World of Hyatt has announced it will cut in half the requirements members need to achieve elite status for the 2021 calendar year. Additionally, the Hyatt loyalty program is extending several reward offers through the beginning of 2021.

Members can achieve elite status for next year either by staying half the number of nights or earning half the number of base points in a calendar year compared to what had previously been required. For example, a member can earn top-tier Globalist status by staying 30 tier-qualifying nights (was 60 nights) or earning 50,000 base points (was 100,000 points) in 2021 and can start enjoying commensurate benefits.

In addition, members now have through February 2021 to take advantage of several offers, including Bonus Journeys, Free Nights on Sale and Dine Local, Earn Triple Points – with registration required for each by Jan. 15.

Hyatt has already announced that loyalty benefits for World of Hyatt members are being extended.

All unused Free Night, Suite Upgrade and Club Lounge Access awards with expiration dates between March 1 and Dec. 31, 2020 will be extended to Dec. 31, 2021.

All unused Suite Upgrade and Club Lounge Access awards with Feb. 28, 2021 expiration dates will be extended to Dec. 31, 2021. In addition, all unused Free Night awards that were earned in 2020 with 2021 expiration dates will be extended to Dec. 31, 2021.

Amy Weinberg, senior vice president, loyalty, brand marketing and consumer insights, said the company wanted to make sure members “felt cared for and recognized for their loyalty,” since some members are not ready or able to travel as often as they hoped.
