Marriott International has set Aug. 18 as the day when its three loyalty plans will be fully integrated.
July 30, 2018
On that date, Marriott Rewards, Starwood Preferred Guest and The Ritz-Carlton Rewards will be moved onto one platform. However, sites and apps on that date will shut down periodically to complete the global integration.
As a result, booking stays across Marriott’s 29 brands and 6,500 hotels will not be possible during certain periods. The chain advises members to book stays in advance, wait until later in the day or check the Free Night Award chart if they are considering whether to redeem before or after Aug. 18. A new name for the program will not be announced until 2019. Until then, the unified program will operate under the three current names. Along with the unified program, Marriott will introduce a single points currency.
