Hawaiian Airlines Launches New Business and Consumer Credit Card Offers

Hawaiian Airlines has launched a pair of new credit cards via Barclays, which includes the Hawaiian Airlines® Business Mastercard® and a beefed-up version of the Hawaiian Airlines® World Elite Mastercard®.

Both cards are available online, in Bank of Hawaii branches and on board the airline’s flights.

With the business version of the card, applicants will earn 50,000 bonus miles after making their first purchase (that’s enough for a roundtrip economy class ticket between the U.S. West Coast and Hawaii), and there is no initial spending requirement, which means even charging a penny would qualify. Benefits of the business card also include a one-time, half-off companion discount on a roundtrip economy class ticket between Hawaii and the mainland U.S. if booked within the first 13 months of having the card.

Big spenders will benefit, too, and this adds value to the card because not all credit cards reward members for passing high spending thresholds. That’s what makes this a solid business credit card for companies that make a lot of purchases and are interested in free travel to Hawaii or the growing number of Asian and South Pacific destinations the carrier offers.

New cardmembers would earn 40,000 bonus miles after spending $100,000 annually or 20,000 bonus miles after spending at least $50,000. Even if you don’t spend that much in a year, the card comes with a 3-2-1 earning ratio: three HawaiianMiles per dollar spent on eligible Hawaiian Airlines purchases, two miles per dollar spent on gas, office supply stores, and dining purchases, and one mile per dollar spent on all other purchases. The card carries a low annual fee of $99.

Existing cardholders can begin earning with this new mileage structure on their next monthly billing cycle date. There are other business cards that offer higher earning potential in some categories, but the Hawaiian Airlines card is not without perks of its own including waived foreign transaction fees and the ability to share miles with friends and family without paying a fee.

Hawaiian Airlines® World Elite Mastercard®

The consumer version of the cardcomes with valuable perks of its own including one free checked bag on Hawaiian Airlines-operated flights, waived foreign transaction fees, a $100 annual companion discount, and World Elite Mastercard benefits like shopping discounts and hotel satisfaction guarantees.

The low annual fee of $99 covers a similar 3-2-1 rewards structure as the business card with three miles per dollar spent on Hawaiian Airlines flights, double miles per dollar spent on gas, dining and grocery stores, and one mile per dollar spent on all other purchases.

New cardmembers can earn 50,000 bonus miles after spending $3,000 within their first three months of having the card in addition to the one-time 50% off companion discount for round-trip economy class travel between Hawaii and North America on Hawaiian Airlines.

Both cards are ideal for Hawaii residents, but even a better deal for non-residents looking to enjoy the “aloha spirit” via award seats to the Hawaiian Islands. Hawaiian Airlines offers flights from 12 mainland destinations, more than any other airline improving the odds of finding award seats on their flights.
