Delta Air Lines Doubling Down on Delta Premium Select Experience for International Flights

New premium seats will be seen on the Fleet’s Boeing 767-300 and Airbus 330 aircraft

Delta is expanding its Delta Premium Select experience to make it available on more aircraft. Plans are to outfit its Boeing 767-300 aircraft beginning this month and then fix the Airbus A330 fleet beginning mid-July, as Europe and other international destinations begin to open up.

Both fleet types see additional upgrades such refreshed lavatories, new LED cabin lighting, expanded personal power outlets and memory-foam comfort cushions. The aircraft in renovation will then have four cabin experiences to give customers whether they are booking for business or leisure: Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin.

Delta Premium Select, an elevated Delta cabin experience available on select international routes, debuted in 2017 and features a wider seat, additional recline and an adjustable foot and leg rest on select widebody aircraft. Customers seated in Delta Premium Select also receive a TUMI amenity kit, noise-cancelling headsets and a blanket and pillow to boost relaxation.

The fleet modifications will give customers more options for seating as Delta rebuilds its global reach in 2021 with new routes to Iceland and Greece. The airline has also announced plans to outfit nearly all its domestic mainline fleet with high-speed connectivity, introduced new contactless payment options onboard and shared plans to build a seamless digital experience to help take the guesswork out of international travel.

Next Stop Iceland and Greece

Delta is resumed service to Iceland this month with nonstop flights from New York-JFK to the capital, Reykjavik, and is launching a new service from Boston starting May 20 followed by nonstop flights from Minneapolis May 27.

While Delta has maintained service to core European hubs including Paris, London, Rome and Amsterdam throughout the pandemic, Iceland has been the first country in Europe to permit non-essential travel for Americans who have been vaccinated or have a certificate of COVID-19 recovery. Greece is gearing up to welcome Delta customers by the end of May.

“Customers are ready to spread their wings, and Delta is excited to help them expand their horizons as markets reopen, taking every precaution to keep them and our employees safe when they fly,” said Roberto Ioriatti, Delta’s V.P. – Transatlantic

Once on board, customers can sit back, relax and enjoy several amenities, including complimentary films, TV programs and music from Delta Studio at every seat, connecting with friends and family about what it’s like to be back in the sky thanks to Free Messaging, and new menu options, all while secure in the knowledge that their safety and health is at the heart of the operation.

Flights between New York-JFK and Reykjavik are on 757-200 aircraft, offering a choice of traveling Delta One, Delta Comfort+, Main Cabin and Basic Economy. All menus have been produced in a COVID-safe environment and adjustments have been made on board to reduce touchpoints without compromising customer service.

To visit Iceland from the U.S., customers must pre-register online. Delta’s Airport Customer Service teams will also validate new health credentials, including proof of vaccination or a certificate of COVID recovery, before customers can fly. Health credentials will be checked again on arrival in Iceland and customers will also be required to take a PCR test and self-isolate until they receive a negative result later that day.

The most up-to-date requirements, as well as details on acceptable vaccine types and documents can be found in Delta’s Travel Planning Center.

“As customers return to travel, we’re bringing them better and more comfortable experiences, and that includes introducing Delta Premium Select to more aircraft in our fleet,” said Byron Merritt, V.P. of Brand Experience Design. “We know customers are ready to get back into the world, and that is driving us to accelerate improvements to our aircraft that will give our customers the best onboard products.”
