American Airlines Boosts Services from Its Miami Hub
The carrier has announced new international, domestic flights and added frequencies to other routes
American Airlines is boosting service out of its Miami hub with two new international routes, as well as new domestic services and increased frequencies on existing routes.
Beginning June 4, the airline is launching flights between Miami and Tel Aviv, with a three times weekly service operated by a 777-200 on which American says it “intends to offer kosher meals for pre-order and kosher wine on board.”
The American Miami to Tel Aviv service launches as the airline also promises a new flight from New York to Tel Aviv as part of its strategic alliance with JetBlue. The alliance, which received the go-ahead from the Department of Transportation last month, proposes codeshare and loyalty benefits for customers of both airlines.
Jetblue has also recently announced plans to begin flights to Miami, including service between Los Angeles and Miami featuring the airline’s redesigned Mint business class.
Beginning in July, American will operate a five times weekly service to Paramaribo in Suriname, making it the only US carrier to offer nonstop flights to the destination.
In addition the carrier will add new domestic services from Miami to Little Rock, AR and Portland, ME, this summer, and will increase frequencies to the Caribbean. In April, flights from MIA to Port-au-Prince will increase to five times daily, service to Santiago will be boosted to four flights per day, and flights to Santo Domingo will increase to seven times daily.
The airline also promises an increase in service to Latin America, with 12 destinations seeing more frequencies compared to 2019.
“Throughout the pandemic, we have continued to strengthen our capacity in Miami to match demand in Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Juan Carlos Liscano, American’s vice president of operations for Miami, the Caribbean and Latin America. “With new international destinations launching this year – Tel Aviv and Suriname – two new domestic destinations – Little Rock and Portland – and additional flights to key destinations in the Caribbean, we look forward to further deepening our ties to Miami.”
