Low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines is launching a brand-new promotion this week, allowing customers to win up to 5 million miles in a lottery-style competition.
In what is claimed to be a first in the U.S. aviation industry, Frontier’s ‘LOTT-O Miles’ promotion will involve a series of prize draws broadcast live on the carrier’s social media channels. A total of five draws will take place over ten days, with a million miles up for grabs in each round.
Drawing inspiration from Frontier’s animal-themed liveries, participants will choose five animals from a selection of twenty, with prizes handed out to those whose choice matches those picked in the live draw. In addition, all of the animals used in the promotion—from a bison to a bald eagle—are featured on the livery of an aircraft in Frontier’s fleet, offering an homage to the airline’s branding in a fun, and innovative alternative to traditional lottery draws.
“We’re always looking for fun and unique opportunities to show customers how much we appreciate them, and it makes it all the more exciting to be the first airline to do this type of promotion,” said Tyri Squyres, Vice President of Marketing at Frontier Airlines.
One million air miles are up for grabs in each draw, with the jackpot being divided equally between winning contestants should there be multiple winners. On the other hand, if there are no winners in any given draw, then the jackpot will be rolled over into the next draw, much like traditional lotteries.
The first live draw is scheduled for this Wednesday, March 29, at 2:00 PM EST, followed up by further draws set to occur on March 31, April 3, 5, and 7.
The competition is free to enter and open to all U.S. residents outside of New York at least the age of majority in their respective states of residence. However, entry is not eligible for Frontier employees or their immediate family members.
Following the live draws, successful participants will receive an email confirming their winnings within 24 hours. Customers must become Frontier Miles members to redeem their air miles, which can be used on domestic or international flights operated by the carrier. However, miles, such as baggage allowances or seat selections, can’t be redeemed on flight extras.
If any participant is lucky enough to win one million miles, the opportunities for free flights will be bountiful. For example, flights between the U.S. and Puerto Rico start at just 10,000 miles each way, while flights to the popular Caribbean and Central American destinations, such as Punta Cana (PUJ) or Cancun (CUN), start at just 15,000 miles.
