January sale season has come and gone, but some airlines are already looking ahead to summer deals. To start, Frontier Airlines has announced its GoWild! seasonal pass, which offers unlimited domestic and international flights with the low-cost carrier for just $399.
“For people with flexible schedules, this is a terrific opportunity to have a truly epic summer and then some, soaking up rays on the beach, exploring national parks and visiting new cities,” said Daniel Shurz, senior vice president of commercial at Frontier Airlines.
The budget airline will offer a limited number of all-you-can-fly summer passes—each valid for use between May 2 and September 30—but there is a lot of fine print. Flights must be booked through flyfrontier.com and not through any travel agent or other intermediary.
Domestic flights can only be booked and confirmed the day before departure. Flights can sell out before that point, so your travel plans will have to be flexible. International flights can be booked within ten days of takeoff. Travelers flying with passes can also be bumped from flights in favor of fee-paying passengers.
The pass does not cover taxes and additional fees—which can add up to $75 to the ticket price—or add-on products such as special seats or checked bags, which can cost up to $95. Trips booked with the summer pass are also ineligible to earn frequent flyer miles or status.
The pass cannot be used during high-traffic times—usually around holidays.
For the summer of 2023, blackout dates include:
Another catch: unless you cancel the pass, it will automatically renew for the summer of 2024 at a non-discounted price of $999.
The GoWild! Summer Pass is similar to the all-you-can-fly annual pass Frontier Airlines announced last fall. Initially priced at $599 for the first year, the pass is now retailing for $1299, with the price climbing to $1999/year when it automatically renews.
The passes are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and may sell out, Frontier said.
Frontier flies to more than 100 destinations across the United States and 31 international destinations in Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.
This summer, Frontier will debut eight new routes to Puerto Rico, including an international connection from San Juan (SJU) to Cancun, Mexico (CNU). The new routes will make Frontier the largest provider of flights to and from the territory, linking it to 19 destinations.
