Exciting New Airline Routes Coming to North America in 2025
Airlines are starting to announce their anticipated schedules for the coming year

The winter travel season is still weeks away, but airlines are already planning ahead to 2025. Major U.S. carriers and international airlines are announcing their schedules for the coming year, with tons of exciting new airline routes originating and landing in North America. Among the most notable additions are nonstop flights between Dublin and Nashville via Aer Lingus; Delta’s nonstop service from New York to Catania, Sicily; five new European destinations for American; and eight new international cities across three continents for United.

Aer Lingus
Aer Lingus is expanding its transatlantic network by launching nonstop flights between Dublin and Nashville next spring.
Beginning on April 12, 2025, the Irish flag carrier will operate four weekly flights from Dublin Airport (DUB) to Nashville International Airport (BNA), the first-ever nonstop connection between the two culturally important cities.
Air Canada
Air Canada is gearing up for a major expansion of its transatlantic services in 2025. The airline is introducing four new routes to popular European destinations and strengthening its presence on the continent.
The Canadian flag carrier is set to launch nonstop flights between Ottawa and London Heathrow, plus new routes from Montreal to Naples, Italy, and Portugal. The airline will also relaunch its service between Toronto Pearson International Airport and Václav Havel Airport Prague, a route that has been dormant for more than five years.
Air France
The French flag carrier has announced it will return to Orlando International Airport (MCO) for the first time since 2012. Beginning May 21, 2025, the airline will launch a new nonstop route connecting Orlando to Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG). The route will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays on the Airbus A350-900, Air France’s new flagship aircraft.
American Airlines
American Airlines is gearing up to whisk more travelers across the Atlantic with the introduction of five new routes and the return of others. The airline will resume flights to Edinburgh, Scotland (EDI), for the first time since 2019, and add new routes to popular destinations like Athens (ATH), Madrid (MAD), Milan (MXP), and Rome (FCO).
AA has also announced it will ramp up flights to Italy next summer. Starting May 6, 2025, American Airlines will launch a daily non-stop route between Chicago O’Hare (ORD) and Naples (NAP). Then, on June 5, American Airlines will fly from its hub in Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) to Venice (VCE) for the first time. The airline has also moved up the launch date of its new flight from Miami (MIA) to Rome–Fiumicino (FCO). The route was expected to begin service in July — it will now start on June 5.
Delta Air Lines
Just months after American Airlines announced cutbacks at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS), Delta Air Lines is introducing five new nonstop routes from the Texas capital to Panama City (ECP), Indianapolis (IND), Memphis (MEM), San Francisco (SFO), and Tampa (TPA) this coming spring.
The airline is also expanding its footprint in Europe, with a particular focus on Italy. Beginning in May 2025, Delta will launch its first-ever nonstop service from New York (JFK) to Catania, Sicily, a popular stop for cruise ships and a great destination for travelers looking to explore the unique attractions of southern Italy. This will be the first time an American carrier operates flights to Catania from the U.S.
The airline is also adding new routes to Barcelona (BCN), Dublin (DUB), and Brussels (BRU) and increasing the frequency of flights to Zurich (ZRH), Athens (ATH), and Rome (FCO). The carrier will introduce a new nonstop route from Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) will go to Copenhagen and relaunch its Los Angeles (LAX)-Shanghai (PVG) service.
Finnair
Finnair has announced its largest-ever U.S. schedule for summer 2025, signaling the airline’s growing commitment to transatlantic travel. The expansion comes as the airline reports a staggering 46 percent increase in U.S. flights compared to the previous summer.
Starting March 30, 2025, the airline will increase service to key U.S. cities, with a notable focus on West Coast and Midwest gateways. Los Angeles, a longtime popular destination for the carrier, will see its service rise to five weekly flights. Chicago will also see an increase from the current five weekly flights to a daily schedule.
United Airlines
The summer of 2025 will mark an unprecedented expansion for United Airlines as the carrier prepares to launch service to eight new international cities across three continents.
The airline is widening its presence in Europe with new flights from Newark to cities in Greenland, Italy, Spain, and Portugal, as well as from Washington Dulles to Venice and France’s Côte d’Azur. The airline has also announced a new route from Dulles to Dakar, Senegal (DKR).
Expanding its footprint in Latin America, the airline will launch routes from Houston to Puerto Escondido, Mexico, and San Francisco to San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO).
In Asia, the airline is launching flights from Tokyo to new destinations in Mongolia, Taiwan, and Palau.
