Delta Air Lines is introducing a new program aimed at business travelers, offering perks from Industrious co-working spaces and Hertz rental cars.

The program is designed to benefit various types of business travelers, including small business owners, frequent flyers, and remote workers. This type of business rewards program is not new, but it is typically accessible to large companies with corporate contracts or smaller businesses that meet specific spending requirements.

Program Details

Delta already has a similar business rewards program called SkyMiles for Business, previously known as SkyBonus. To qualify for this program, companies must have at least five travelers and spend a minimum of $5,000 annually with the airline.

Delta Business Traveler is different. You simply have to be a member of SkyMiles, reside in the United States, and identify as a business traveler. Like SkyMiles, it’s also free to join.

“If you’ve ever traveled for business, Delta Business Traveler is for you,” said Benjamin van der Horst, General Manager of Loyalty Partnerships and SMB Strategy at Delta.

There’s certainly a market for rewarding other types of business travelers beyond corporate stiffs, especially as freelancing, remote working, and entrepreneurship become more common.

The program’s offerings are geared toward those kinds of travelers. The headline perk is a free trial of Industrious, a co-working space with more than 200 premium office spaces worldwide. If you like Industrious, you can extend that into a monthly subscription at a discounted rate of $99. It’s unclear how long the free trial lasts or how much of a discount Industrious offers on its usual subscription fees.

To launch the partnership, Industrious will host local events in four cities across the U.S. and a nationwide simultaneous happy hour in all its co-working spaces.

“Business travelers are looking for more than just a flight and a laptop; they want their entire journey to be an experience worth having,” said Industrious co-founder and CEO Jamie Hodari.

Industrious research has shown that business travel has surged since the pandemic, even with the rise of online meetings and remote work. This year, nearly three in four corporate travel managers expect their company’s business trip spending to rise.

Perks for Business Travelers

Delta Business Traveler Members also receive six months of Five Star status with Hertz, which comes with space-available one-class upgrades, bonus points on spending, and a wider range of cars to choose from at Ultimate Choice lots. Normally, travelers must rent ten cars from Hertz or spend $2,000 in a calendar year to qualify for Five Star status.

Furthermore, Business travelers will be on a fast track to Hertz’s even more premium President’s Circle elite status, with guaranteed upgrades, accelerated points earning, and the widest selection of cars.

Until the end of the year, those travelers will earn three extra bonus miles per dollar when booking hotels and renting cars through Delta.

Delta also teases “special offers from Delta Vacations,” its package holiday business.

Once members are enrolled, Delta Business Travelers also see a range of other offers, including discounts for CLEAR expedited airport security, MasterClass online lessons, travel insurance, and Indeed job posts.

“Business travelers of all kinds have come to depend on Delta for not only our service and reliability, but also for the in-flight experience and award-winning service. Now, they can unlock even more value when they’re traveling for business, leisure, or the perfect combination of both. And, with Industrious, they can unlock even more value wherever they land,” said van der Horst.
