British Airways reopened its new-look airport lounge at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) last week, promising an upgraded space for its premium passengers and loyal customers to relax in before their flight.

The revamped lounge—part of a wider £7 billion ($8.84bn) transformation of its global lounge network—features a range of new amenities, including brand-new bars, bespoke furniture, focus pods for business travelers, updated food and beverage options, and exclusive artwork from local artists.
Amenities and Design Features
With floor-to-ceiling windows providing a 180-degree view of the runway and Washington State’s mountains in the distance, the lounge is divided into separate areas for relaxing, dining, and working, while the all-new ‘focus pods’ offer an extra level of privacy.

A full-service bar also offers champagne and local beers, a redesigned food service area, and a dedicated a la carte dining service for First Class passengers.
The overall design of the lounge mixes elements from the local Pacific Northwest area with touches of British elegance and sophistication, featuring a warm color scheme, marble stone surfaces, and opal glass lamps.

Meanwhile, guests can enjoy artwork from local artists, including Hannah Mason and Vacilando Studios, which adorn the lounge’s walls.
Celebrating 45 Years in Seattle
The reopening of the lounge coincides with the 45th anniversary of British Airways’ operations in Seattle, having first launched nonstop flights to the Emerald City in April 1980.

While certainly not the carrier’s largest base in the U.S., it remains an important destination on its global network and currently operates ten weekly flights between Seattle and London Heathrow (LHR).

“We announced our £7bn transformation program last year and promised to improve the customer experience both on the ground and in the air,” said Calum Laming, Chief Customer Officer at British Airways. “Across our global network, we have 28 lounges in 20 airports that all play a huge part in our customers’ journeys, so we’re committed to offering the very best experience.

“Just like our customers and colleagues, each lounge is unique. Customers can expect to see nods to our British heritage blended seamlessly with features that celebrate the locality of the destination. We’ve worked with local designers, artists, and suppliers across the globe to ensure that each lounge has its own British Original personality – and we can’t wait to unveil more.”
Global Transformation Program
Other airports that have seen their British Airways lounges revamped in the last nine months as part of the airline’s transformation program include Singapore Changi (SIN), Washington Dulles (IAD), Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) in Lagos, Nigeria, and London Gatwick (LGW).

However, the project’s not stopping with Seattle, with a new lounge set to open at Dubai International Airport (DXB) this year, followed by another at Miami International Airport (MIA) later in the year. Meanwhile, BA’s lounges at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Glasgow Airport (GLA) are scheduled for refurbishment towards the end of 2025.
