As transatlantic travel ramps up for the summer, American Airlines is introducing a revamped in-flight dining menu inspired by its expanding list of European destinations.
The Dallas/Fort Worth-based airline is enhancing its passenger experience package with the introduction of its new Flagship Suites on new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and launching a new selection of amenity kits designed by renowned handbag designer Brandon Blackwood.
Along with the new cabin and stylish amenity kits, American is launching an update to its food and beverage offerings on flights across the Atlantic this summer.
Beginning June 11, travelers flying in Flagship Business and Flagship Suite seats on select long-haul routes to Europe will be served new regional dishes designed to echo the cuisine of the cities they’re flying to. The update coincides with American’s new seasonal routes to Venice, Naples, and Edinburgh—part of a broader service expansion across the continent.
Expanded Routes, Regional Menus
The airline’s new menu rollout supports its summer service to 14 European cities: Paris (CDG), Nice (NCE), Rome (FCO), Milan (MXP), Venice (VCE), Naples (NAP), Barcelona (BCN), Madrid (MAD), Frankfurt (FRA), Munich (MUC), London (LHR), Edinburgh (EDI), and Dublin (DUB).

Each route features dishes inspired by the local flavors of the destination. For example, French-inspired offerings include ratatouille and porcini short rib served with creamy polenta, blue cheese, walnuts, roasted beets, and zucchini.
Italian dishes consist of herbed short rib accompanied by pea risotto and butternut squash, as well as pan-seared halibut topped with olive-caper relish and served with fingerling potatoes.

On flights to Spain, selections feature Mar y Mar seafood paella and seared sea bass served over squid ink rice with piquillo pepper sauce.

German recipes include spaetzle with grilled zucchini, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, and a crispy schnitzel served with potatoes and blistered tomatoes.

For the UK and Irish-inspired dishes, the airline offers mustard-crusted lamb with seasonal root vegetables and a peppercorn short rib accompanied by roasted potatoes and demi-glace.

As noted by American, these dishes will only be available in Flagship® Business, Flagship Suite Preferred, and Flagship Suite seats on applicable international flights.
Preorder Meal Window Extended
To give travelers more flexibility in customizing their in-flight experience, American is extending the deadline for meal pre-orders. Beginning this month, customers will have up to 20 hours before departure—up from the previous 16 hours—to select their in-flight meal.

The change is particularly beneficial for those who receive last-minute upgrades or book closer to their travel date, allowing more time to finalize their preferences.
Afternoon Tea
In addition to the main menu enhancements, American is also testing an afternoon tea service this summer on flights departing from London (LHR) and Paris (CDG). The offering is available in all cabins and reflects an effort to integrate more culturally resonant elements into the onboard service experience.
The new dining program is part of American’s broader strategy to enhance the premium cabin experience, particularly on international routes that appeal to business and leisure travelers.

By pairing expanded route offerings with curated onboard dining and more flexible service options, the airline is trying to position itself to better meet the expectations of high-value customers traveling between the U.S. and Europe.
The new menus will roll out network-wide on June 11 and will remain in effect throughout the summer season.
