United Expands International Services
New nonstop destinations include Africa and India, along with more flights to Hawaii
United Airlines has announced further expansion of its global route network in the coming months, adding new nonstop services to Africa, India and more flights to Hawaii. The new routes mean United will offer more nonstop service to India and South Africa than any other US carrier and remains the largest carrier between the US mainland and Hawaii.
The news comes on the heels of United’s recent announced October schedule which adds or resumes nearly 50 domestic services, and brings back 14 international routes.
In addition to the new nonstop service inaugurated this week between Chicago and Tel Aviv, beginning in December, United will fly daily between Chicago and New Delhi. Starting in spring 2021, the carrier will become the only airline to operate between San Francisco and Bangalore, India, and between Newark/New York and Johannesburg.
The carrier is also planning to offer new services between Washington, DC, and Accra, Ghana and Lagos, Nigeria, in late spring of 2021. Then in summer 2021, the airlines will add four times weekly nonstop flights between Chicago and Kona and between Newark/New York and Maui.
“Now is the right time to take a bold step in evolving our global network,” said Patrick Quayle, vice president of international network and alliances, adding that the new nonstop routes provide shorter travel times and convenient one-stop connections from across the US.
