United Adds Anti-Microbial Coating Measures
Carrier will extend measure to its safety and cleaning procedures for entire fleet by end of the year
United Airlines has announced that it is adding Zoono Microbe Shield to the airline’s safety and cleaning procedures for its entire fleet. The product is an EPA-registered antimicrobial coating that forms a long-lasting bond with surfaces and inhibits the growth of microbes.
Currently airline says it is applying the coating to seats, tray tables, armrests, overhead bins, lavatories and crew stations on more than 30 aircraft each week. The carrier expects to add this latest measure to all of its mainline and express aircraft before the end of the year.
The coating, which was created by New Zealand-based Zoono Group Limited will serve as an added layer of protection that complements the airline’s existing, daily electrostatic spraying regimen before departing flights.
Toby Enqvist, United’s chief customer officer, said that as part of the airline’s layered approach to safety,antimicrobials are an effective complement to its hospital-grade HEPA air filtration system, mandatory mask policy for customers and daily electrostatic spraying.
