American Airlines has announced that it is now accepting the mobile health passport VeriFLY at all its airports in the US.
VeriFLY is an app that allows customers to upload documents such as negative COVID-19 test results to meet various travel requirements imposed by health authorities.
American Airlines customers traveling from the carrier’s US airports will have the option to use the free app to upload required documents for travel on the airline. This will apply to direct and connecting flights from domestic airports to Canada, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica and the United Kingdom.
American Airlines initially announced the partnership with VeriFLY in November, testing the pre-flight service on flights from Miami to Santiago, Chile in December. Recently, the airline introduced the VeriFLY health passport for arriving international flights into the US.
This week it was announced that American’s joint business and Oneworld partner British Airways is running a trial of the VeriFLY app for flights from London to the US.
Commenting on the expansion, Julie Rath, Vice President of Customer Experience, said:
“We are constantly looking at ways to make travel easier and simpler for our customers, and navigating testing requirements and validation is a big piece of that.
“All of our airports will now accept customers’ testing verification via the VeriFLY app, which is a great expansion of our trial from MIA that began last fall. With more partners like British Airways and others across the industry expanding their acceptance of VeriFLY, we can further our common goal of preventing the spread of COVID-19 and ensure compliance with local regulations that have been put in place to protect our customers and team members.”
